Kushtia hospital flooded with patients, one every 10 minutes

In a span of 24 hours on Eid day, 250 patients underwent treatment at the emergency department of Kushtia General Hospital and 168 of them got admission to the hospital. On average, one patient was admitted every 10 minutes.

The Resident Medical Officer (RMO) of the hospital, Taposh Kumar Sarkar, told Prothom Alo on Tuesday that, “The hospital is almost flooded with patients. It is urgent to increase the capacity of the hospitals.”

Of the 250 patients who came to Kushtia General Hospital on Monday, 25 were injured in road accidents. One of them died. Another 15 came with fever and were admitted to the dengue ward. The others had heart complaints, brain haemorrhage, chest pains and stomach ailments.
