Man held for ‘rape attempt’ in Jashore

A man was held on Thursday for his alleged attempt to rape of a four-year-old girl in Chaugachha upazila of Jashore, reports UNB.

The detained is Khairul Islam, 38, of Ichhapur village in the municipality. The minor girl used to call him uncle.

The victim’s father said his daughter went to neighbour Khairul’s house around 11:00am on Wednesday when he was alone there. Taking the advantage, he took her to a room and tried to rape her.

Hearing her scream, locals rushed in and caught Khairul red-handed.

Later, police went to the spot and detained Khairul, said Chaugachha police station officer-in-charge Rifat Khan Rajib.

Khairul was produced before a court on Thursday.
