A fire broke out at a slum in Rupnagar area of Mirpur in the capital on Friday evening.

The reason of the fire could not be known immediately.

According to the Fire Service and Civil Defence Central Control Room, the fire originated at a shanty of Chalantika Slum on the West side of Al Arabia Mosque around 7:20pm and it engulfed adjoining areas.

On information, as many as 19 firefighting units rushed in to douse the blaze, the control room’s officer Ershad Hossain told Prothom Alo.
