Man killed in Cox’s Bazar ‘gunfight’

A Prothom Alo IllustrationThe deceased is Mohammad Badsha, son of Abul Kashem of Tekpara area.

Tipped off, a team of RAB conducted a drive in the area around 4am, said Didarul Islam, sub-inspector of Pekua police station.

Sensing presence of the elite force members, the robbers opened fire on them, forcing them to fire back that triggered a gunfight.

Badsha was caught in the line of fire and died on the spot while the others managed to flee the scene.

Police recovered the body and sent it to Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy.

Badsha was wanted in several cases including of robbery, said police.

A number of arms and ammunition were recovered from the spot.
