BCL factional clash leaves teen dead

A teenager was stabbed to death in a clash between two groups of the ruling party Awami League's student front, the Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL), at Chattogram’s Omar Gani MES College on Monday, reports UNB.

Police identified the deceased as Sheikh Zakir Hossain Sunny, 18, son of late Abdul Mannan of village Kolapara under Dhormopasha upazila in Sunamganj district.

Sunny was stabbed to death at Zakir Hossain Road under Khulshi thana (near the MES College) as a sequel to the feud between a junior and a senior group of BCL at the Omar Gani MES College Chhatra League.

M Alauddin Talukder, ASI of Chattogram Medical College Hospital police outpost, informed that once his body was recovered, seriously injured Zakir Hossain Sunny was rushed to the emergency department where the attending physicians declared him dead.

MES College sources said there had been an altercation between senior and junior groupings of the college Chhatra League on Sunday. Today (Monday) Sunny was called out from his residence apparently to reach some sort of mutual understanding over Sunday's incident. But Sunny was stabbed soon after he arrived at the college campus.

Meanwhile, Poritran Talukder, CMP senior assistant commissioner (Baejid Zone), confirmed that a college student named Zakir Hossain Sunny was killed.
Drive is on to arrest those involved with the incident, he added.
