2 get death, 3 life term for murder in Kushtia

A Kushtia court on Wednesday sentenced two persons to death and three others to life imprisonment in a murder case filed in 2012, reports UNB.

The convicts who got death penalty are - Nazmul, son of Aahad Ali of Ahamedpur village in Mirpur upazila, and Rony, son of Abul Kalam of Baromile area in Bheramara upazila.

Rabbi, son of Ismail Hossain; Rafiq, son of Khalil; and Suja, son of Abdul Aziz of Sadar upazila were sentenced to life in prison.

Kushtia district and sessions judge Arup Kumar Goswami also fined them Tk 50,000 each. In default, they will have to serve one more year in jail.

According to prosecution, the convicts took victim Shohag to Harding Bridge in Bheramara on 9 October, 2012. They murdered him there and dumped the body in a nearby bush.

Police recovered the body two days later. Victim's uncle Shaidul Islam later filed a case with Bheramara police station accusing five people.
