A Bangladeshi man was shot dead by members of Indian Border Security Force (BSF) along Rajapur border in Jibannagar upazila of Chuadanga early Thursday, reports UNB.

The deceased is Najim Uddin, 35, son of Abul Kalam of Akundbariya village in Sadar upazila.

Locals said Najim along with some others went near border pillar-74 of Rajapur to bring cattle from India around 3am.

At one stage, members of a BSF Amtala camp chased them and fired on them, leaving Najim dead on the spot while the others managed to flee the spot.

Later the BSF members dragged the body into the Indian territory.

Quamrul Hasan, director of BGB Battalion-58, said in a letter they invited BSF to hold a flag-meeting in this regard but yet to get any response from the Indian side.
