Kalabagan Krira Chakra president accused in narcotics, arms acts lawsuits

Two cases under narcotics control and arms acts were filed against Kalabagan Krira Chakra president Safiqul Alam Firoz and four of his office staff on Saturday, reports news agency UNB.

Md Abdul Latif, officer-in-charge of Dhanmondi police station in the capital, said the men will be produced before the court later in the day.

A team of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) detained the five men on Friday and recovered a pistol and yaba tablets from the sports club office in Kalabagan.

Firoz is a former member of Krishak League’s central committee, a wing of ruling Bangladesh Awami League.

During the raid, RAB said, they also recovered coins used in gambling, 572 packets of cards and bullets.

On the same day, Jubo League’s central leader GK (Golam Kibria) Shamim was also arrested from Niketan area in Dhaka with illegal firearms and a huge amount of money.

Earlier on Wednesday, RAB arrested Jubo League leader Khalid Mahmud Bhuiyan from Gulshan for reportedly running an illegal casino.
