A case was filed on Monday against five railway policemen, including suspended officer-in-charge of Khulna Government Railway Police (GRP) station Osman Goni, over the reported gang-rape of a woman in the custody, reports news agency UNB.

The victim filed the case with Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal-3 at noon, said her counsel lawyer Md Mominul Islam.

The court accepted the case and ordered the Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) to investigate the matter, he said.

On 2 August, five railway policemen allegedly raped the woman after arresting her on allegations of stealing a mobile phone.

Police produced her before a court the following day showing her arrested with five bottles of contraband Phensidyl syrup.

On 5 August, a three-member committee was formed to look into the incident.

Two of the accused -- OC Osman Goni and sub-inspector Nazmul Haque -- were closed to Pakshi railway police lines.

The woman secured bail in the narcotics case on 28 August.
