Lokman confesses to sending casino money to Sayeed

The director-in-charge of Mohemmedan Sporting Club Lokman Hossain Bhuiyan has confessed to the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) abut sending the money earned from casino business to Arambagh Krira Sangha president AKM Mominul Haque alias Sayeed.

In the primary interrogation Lokman confessed this, RAB-2 commander lieutenant colonel Ashiq Billah said.

He is being questioned now to know whether they kept the money within the country or laundered abroad, he added.

RAB-2 commander said they recovered five bottles of foreign liquor from Lokman's house.

The RAB members arrested him as he did neither have permission to keep the liquor bottles or drink alcohol at home, he added.

Earlier, a RAB team arrested Lokman from his house in Monipuripara in Dhaka around 12:30am on Thursday and took him to its office, Ashiq Billah told Prothom Alo.

Lokman Hossain is also the director of Bangladesh Cricket Board while Sayeed is the secretary general of Bangladesh Hockey Federation.

Incidentally, Jubo League leader Mominul Haque alias Sayeed is the councillor of Dhaka South City Corporation ward no. 9.

Apart from involving in casino business, Sayeed is known for his involvement in extortion and tender business in the area.

RAB will hand Lokman over to police after the interrogation and a case would be filed with the police station, RAB commander said.

The RAB-2 team conducted a raid in his house around 11:00pm on Wednesday.

Incidentally, police recovered a large number of casino boards and other instruments for gambling in a recent operation in a number of clubs including Mohammedan Sporting Club amid its clampdown on casinos and clubs in the capital.
