Sylhet mayor receives death threat

Sylhet City Corporation mayor Ariful Haque Chowdhury on Saturday filed a general diary (GD) with Kotwali police after receiving a death threat.

Shahabuddin Shihab, public relations officer of the mayor’s office, filed the GD in the morning, said Selim Mia, in-charge of the police station.

According to the GD, the mayor received calls from two unknown numbers (01712-132598 and 01921-874681) around 10am and the callers threatened to kill him.
