The demonstrating students of Jahangirnagar University on Monday gave an ultimatum and threatened to observe a strike on 2 and 3 October if the vice-chancellor of the university Farzana Islam does not step down by Tuesday, 1 October.

The faction of students and teachers of Jahangirnagar University under the banner of 'Jahangirnagar against Corruption' delivered the ultimatum while staging demonstration on the campus for the seventh consecutive day.

They also showed 'black flag' to the VC and announced to show red card to the VC on Tuesday.

The same faction of JU students has been staging demonstration since 25 August demanding judicial investigation against the VC.

Allegations of corruption have been raised against the VC centred on a major development project of the university.

They also gave an ultimatum to the VC to quit her post by 1 October and declared her 'persona non grata' on the campus.
