BNP lawmaker Harunur Rashid has talked about his party chairperson Khaleda Zia’s release with Awami League general secretary Obaidul Quader. Harun also urged Quader to inform prime minister Sheikh Hasina about the matter.

Harunur met Quader, also road transport and bridges minister, on Wednesday at the Bangladesh secretariat.

“I informed the minister (Quader) about meeting Khaleda Zia yesterday and informed him about her release. We are talking about the matter for a long time now. I urged him to inform this matter to parliament leader and prime minister Sheikh Hasina. Khaleda Zia’s physical condition is very bad and she needs immediate treatment. I urged him to consider her early release from jail considering her need for treatment,” Harunur said.

Quader assured him of discussing the matter with the prime minister, the BNP lawmaker said.

Harunur and two other BNP lawmakers, Md Aminul Islam and Ukil Abdus Sattar, on Tuesday met incarcerated Khaleda Zia at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical College Hospital (BSMMU) where she is undergoing treatment.

Four other BNP lawmakers, Mosharraf Hossain, Zahidur Rahman, Rumeen Farhana and Golam Mohammad Siraz, also met Khaleda on Wednesday.

Khaleda Zia has been admitted to BSMMU since 1 April.
