Four charge-sheeted accused who were absconding surrendered before a court in Baguna on Sunday over the murder of Rifat Sharif.

The underage accused turned up before the court of senior judicial magistrate Md Sirajul Islam Gazi. The court sent them to a juvenile correctional centre, reports news agency UNB.

On 3 October, the court ordered confiscation of the property of eight accused in the murder case.

On 26 June, Rifat Sharif, 22, was attacked with sharp weapons near the main gate of Barguna Government College. His wife Aysha Siddika Minni appeared to be trying to protect him during the attack.

Meanwhile, key accused Sabbir Ahmed alias Nayon Bond was killed in a reported gunfight with law enforcers on 2 July.

Police arrested Minni later on 16 July over the murder of her husband and was denied bail several times before the High Court on 29 August granted bail to her on conditions that she would remain in her father’s custody and that she could not talk to media.

She reportedly confessed to her involvement in the murder before the court on 19 July, two days after her arrest.

Recently, a new video footage on the sensational Rifat Sharif murder case in Barguna shows Rifat’s wife Ayesha Akhter Minni, one of the accused in the murder case, was the one who actually took Rifat to the hospital all by herself.

This footage video obtained from the Barguna General Hospital CCTV raises question about the claim made by Rifat’s father that Rifat had to go to hospital all alone.
