Man ‘commits’ suicide after ‘killing’ wife in Rangpur

A couple was found dead at their bedroom at Balatary village in Gangachhara upazila of Rangpur on Tuesday, reports UNB.

It was suspected that the man committed suicide after killing his wife.

The deceased is Saber Ali, 42, son of Mozaffar Ali of the village, and his wife Muktara Begum, 35.

Being informed, police recovered their bodies and sent those to Rangpur Medical College Hospital morgue for postmortem.

Police and locals said the couple's elder daughter, a Class-IX student, found the bedroom locked from inside after returning home from private tuition around 12 noon.

Although she called them repeatedly, no response was found from them.

Following the girl's scream, locals rushed in and broke open the door.

They found Muktara lying dead on the bed and Saber hanging from the ceiling.

Officer-in-charge of Gangachhara Model police station Moshiur Rahman said Saber might have committed suicide after killing his wife following a family feud. "The reason behind the deaths could be known after getting the autopsy report."
