Jatiya Oikya Front will take out a 'civic mourning rally' in the city protesting the killing of BUET student Abrar Fahad, reports UNB.

The decision was taken at a meeting of the steering committee of the alliance at its convener Kamal Hossain's Motijheel chamber on Thursday.

Talking to UNB, Gonoforum executive president Subrata Chowdhury said their meeting strongly condemned the gruesome killing of Abrar for expressing his opinion about the recent bilateral documents with India on his Facebook wall.

To register their protest against the brutal murder, he said the leaders and activists of their alliance will gather in front of the Jatiya Press Club at 3:00pm on Sunday.
"Later, we'll take out a civic mourning rally towards the Central Shaheed Minar."

Subrata, one behalf of the Oikyafront, called upon the people from all walks of life to make their programme a success with their spontaneous participation in the rally.

Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal president ASM Abdur Rob, Nagorik Oikya convener Mahmudur Rahman Manna, Gonoforum executive presidents Abu Sayeed, Subrata Chowdhury, BNP standing committee member Iqbal Hasan Mahmud Tuku and Gonoshasthya Kendra founder Zafrullah Chowdhury were, among others, present at the meeting with Kamal Hossain in the chair.

Abrar, 21, a resident of Sher-e-Bangla hall of Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET), was reportedly beaten to death by some Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) leaders and activists of the university unit following his Facebook post opposing some deals with India.
