Abrar murder: Ifti confesses to his part

Expelled BCL leader Ifti Mosharraf Sakal reportedly confessed before a court on Thursday to his involvement in the murder of Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (Buet) student Abrar Fahad, reports UNB.

Dhaka metropolitan magistrate Sadbir Yasir Ahsan Chowdhury recorded the confessional statement of Sakal, expelled deputy social welfare secretary of BUET unit of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL).

The court also sent him to jail.

Earlier, investigation officer of the case inspector Md Wahiduzzaman of the detective branch (DB) produced him before the court as he agreed to give confessional statement during interrogation during remand.

On Tuesday, Sakal along with nine other BCL leaders and activists was put on a five-day remand over the gruesome murder.

On Monday, police arrested them after examining the footage of a close-circuit camera and the statements of witnesses.

Abrar, 21, a second-year student of electrical and electronic engineering department of BUET, was beaten to death BCL leaders at Sher-e-Bangla hall of the university.

He was found dead on the staircase of the dormitory early Monday.
