Youth dies sustaining injury in robber attack

A young man who, along with three other people injured in a robber-gang attack while returning from a pujua mandap in Savar, on the outskirts of the capital, on 8 October died at a hospital on Saturday.

Dip Das, 28, succumbed to his injuries at Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib Memorial KPJ Specialised Hospital around 2:00pm, reports news agency UNB.

Victim’s father Nilu Das said robbers swooped on a cycle van near Kabirpur radio centre of Ashulia on Nabinagar-Chandra highway around 2:00am on 8 October while Dip along his brother Mithu Das, 23, and neighbour Nito Ronjan, 38, was returning from a puja mandap.

The bandits beat them and van puller Monir Mia, 40, and looted their valuables, he said.

Dip suffered serious injuries to the head and remained unconscious since then, Nilu Das said.
