World Mental Health Day 2019 was observed throught the day at EMK Centre in the capital on 10 October.

Throughout the day a series of talks and free psychological counseling sessions were organised in collaboration by Moner Bondhu and EMK Centre.

This year the theme of the World Mental Health Day was 'Mental Health Promotion and Suicide Prevention'. All of the events were based around this theme.

A panel discussion titled 'We Care' was organised in the first session of the day. Organisations that are working on suicide prevention shared their activities and experience with the audience in the session.

Through the discussion the audience was informed about the services and support available to prevent suicide and for mental healthcare.

Free psychological counselling was provided to the visitors from 12:00pm to 5:00pm. Visitors queued up to share their concerns and queries in these private and confidential sessions.

A very colorful Art Therapy Session produced many beautiful creations by the visitors, children and adults alike.

In this session the participants were introduced to colour theory and how art therapy is used as a great way take care of mental health.

The participants were then encouraged to create their own art to express whatever was on their mind. At the end, the result was a vibrant collection of positivity.

The last session of the day-long observation was called 'Let’s talk with Iresh Zaker', where the popular actor, Iresh Zaker talked about mental healthcare and well-being.

He also shared useful information on the process of counseling and why mental healthcare is important.

The audience interacted with the actor and asked him questions about mental health and suicide.

The session also had a segment where a speaker shared his suicidal thoughts and how he finds positivity to fight them.

The day was ended with a casual networking session between the visitors and organisers at the EMK Centre cafeteria.
