Ambulance gas cylinder blast kills three including patient

Three people were killed and three others injured as the gas cylinder of an ambulance exploded in Anwara upazila of Chattogram on Thursday.

The deceased three were Mofizur Rahman, 70, of Kaji Bari of Banshkhali upazila and his two daughters-in-law -- Zoinab Begum, 20, and Bulbul Akhtar, 25.

According to witnesses, the ambulance carrying patient Mofizur and his family members went off around 2:30pm, when it was going to Banshkhali upazila from Chittagong Medical College Hospital, leaving two people killed on the spot and injuring four others.

The injured were rushed to Anwara and Chittagong Medical College Hospital where another died.

The injured are Mofizur’s son Nezamuddin, 20, his elder brother Saifuddin, 24, and the ambulance driver’s assistant Munna, 30.

Anwara police station officer-in-charge Md Dulal Mahmud confirmed the incident.
