Police arrested two persons, one of whom had subsequently been jailed, for allegedly selling fox meat in the name of mutton from the Sarail-Bishwa Road bus-stop area of Brahmanbaria on Monday, reports UNB.

The arrestees were Arzad Ali, 22, son of Madu Mia and Saddam Hossain, both residents of Lakhai upazila in Habiganj district.

Police arrested them red-handed while they were in the act of selling the fox meat to a restaurant in the name of mutton at low price, said Mynul Islam, officer-in-charge of Hatihata highway police station.

Police were also able to recover 27 kilograms of fox meat and 10 kilograms of liver from them.

Later, a mobile court led by assistant commissioner and executive magistrate Farjana Priyanka sentenced Arzad to six months in jail. Saddam however escaped the jail sentence and got away with a Tk 5,000 fine, the OC added.
