ASM Nazmus Sadat, one of the accused in the Abrar Fahad murder case, reportedly confessed before a court here on Tuesday to his involvement in the murder, reports UNB.

Dhaka metropolitan magistrate Sorafuzzaman Ansari recorded the confessional statement of Sadat, a student of Mechanical Engineering department of Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET).

He made the confession when he was produced before the court on completion of his five-day remand.

Sadat was placed on the remand on 16 October, a day after he was arrested from Katlabazar in Birampur upazila of Dinajpur district while trying to flee the country.

Abrar Fahad, 21, a second-year student of electrical and electronic engineering of BUET, was beaten to death reportedly by Bangladesh Chhatra League leaders at Sher-e-Bangla Hall of the university.

He was found dead on the staircase of the hall in the early hours of 7 October after he was taken to the room No-2011 around 8pm on 6 October and beaten mercilessly.
