5 killed in road crashes in 2 districts

Five people were killed and 13 other injured in separate road accidents in Bogura and Sirajganj on Friday, reports UNB.

Two people were killed and three others injured when a truck rammed a rickshaw-van near Bhuiyagati Kamarpara Bridge in Raiganj upazila of Sirajganj on Friday morning.

The deceased were identified as Sheuli Khatun, 30, of Sorai Hajipur village in Raiganj upazila and Jel Hossain, 65, from Lakashmi bishnu prasad Khalifapara village of the same upazila.

The Bogura-bound truck hit the rickshaw-van near Kamarpara Bridge at 9:00 am, leaving Sheuli dead on the spot and four others injured, said Raiganj Fire Service and Civil Defense acting station officer Ahsan Habib.

Among the injured, Jel Hossain died on the way to Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital in Bogura while the others were admitted to the same hospital.

A case was filed with Hatikumrul Highway police station in this regard.
In Bogura, three people, including a woman and her daughter, were killed and 10 others injured when a bus overturned in Shibganj upazila of Bogura district early Friday.

The deceased were identified as Shabnur Begum, 22, her two and a half-year-old daughter Munzila Khatun, of Pirganj upazila in Thakurgaon and Mehedi Hasan, 3, of Kaharol upazila in Dinajpur district.

Shibganj police station officer-in-charge Mizanur Rahman said the Dhaka-bound bus from Thakurgaon overturned in Pakurtola area when the driver lost control over the steering, leaving the three dead on the spot.

The injured were admitted to Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital and the bodies were sent to the morgue.

Police seized the bus although the driver and the helper managed to flee scene, the OC added.
