Abrar murder: BUET graduate arrested

The detectives of Dhaka Metropolitan Police arrested another suspect in BUET student Abrar Fahad murder case on Sunday, reports UNB.

The arrestee was Mahmud Setu, a student of batch-14 of BUET and a resident of Sher-e-Bangla Hall. He completed his BSC from the Chemical Engineering department in last April.

Masudur Rahman, deputy commissioner (media) of DMP, said Mahmud was arrested from Banglamotor area in the city around 7:00pm.

Mahmud’s name is not included in the FIR, he said. “We arrested him after finding his involvement in the murder.”

Abrar, 21, a second-year student of electrical and electronic engineering department, was beaten to death allegedly by BUET unit’s Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) leaders at Sher-e-Bangla Hall.

BCL is the student wing of ruling Awami League.
