The High Court on Sunday ordered authorities concerned not to harass Nobel Laureate Muhammad Yunus at the airport, reports UNB.

The bench of justice Md Moinul Islam Chowdhury and justice Khandaker Diliruzzaman passed the order responding to a writ petition filed by Yunus’ brother Muhammad Ibrahim.

Yunus was given till 7 November to surrender after returning home.

The High Court on 14 October stayed until 25 October a lower court order that had issued an arrest warrant for Yunus in three cases filed over sacking three employees of Grameen Communications.

On 3 July, three employees of Grameen Communications filed the cases against Yunus and two others at the labour court.

According to case statements, the trio was sacked for trying to form a trade union at their workplace.

The court ordered the defendants to appear before it on 8 October. Two of the accused - Grameen Communications’ managing director Naznin Sultana and deputy managing director Khandakar Abu Abedin- secured bail after appearing before the court.

On 9 October, the Dhaka Labour Court issued arrest warrant for Mohammad Yunus as he did not appear before it responding to its previous order.
