Father gets life in prison for raping daughter

A tribunal on Tuesday sentenced a man to life imprisonment for raping his own daughter at Khastabak village in Patharghata upazila of Barguna in 2017, reports UNB. 

The convict was identified as Jewel Peda of the village.

Judge of the Barguna women and children repression prevention tribunal Md Hafizur Rahman also fined the convict Tk 20,000 and in case of failure to pay the penalty, he will have to serve six more months in prison.

According to the prosecution, Jewel, a drug addict, raped her daughter after making her unconscious by feeding food laced with sedatives on 25 May 2017 when his wife was outside.

Victim's grandfather filed a case against him in this regard. Police later arrested him from Narayanganj.
