Man held for acid attack on ex-wife, daughter

Police on Monday night arrested a man from capital's Gendaria area as he reportedly hurled acid on his former wife and daughter in Chapra village of Assasuni upazila of Satkhia on 21 October, reports UNB. 


The arrestee was identified as Shahjahan Morol of Ponkobila village in Narail district.

In a press briefing, Satkhira police superintendent (SP) Md Mustafizur Rahman said that in primary investigation Shahjahan confessed to his crime.

On 21 October, Shahjahan hurled acid on his ex-wife Fatema Khatun and daughter Jakia burning them severely in Chapra village of Assasuni upazila, SP said.

Victim's father filed a case with Assasuni police station accusing Shahjahan and his mother in this regard.

The victims have been taking treatment at Centre for the Rehabilitation of the Paralysed (CRP) Hospital in Dhaka, he said.
