Students of Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) on Tuesday vowed to continue boycotting classes and examinations as per the previous announcement, reports news agency UNB.

Antara Madhuri Tithi, a fourth-year student of the mechanical engineering department of BUET, made the announcement at a press briefing held in front of central Shaheed Minar of BUET around 5:00pm.

She also threatened to go for tougher movement if the university administration fails to meet their demands.

“We will continue our protest till all our demands are met and also till the proper solution to the crisis surfaced after Abrar murder,” she said.

“If the BUET administration wanted they could have played active role to meet our demands in the last 13 days. General students are ready to talk with the vice chancellor again if needed,” she added.

Abrar Fahad, a second-year student of BUET’s electrical and electronic engineering department, was beaten to death by a group of Bangladesh Chhatra League men at the university’s Sher-e-Bangla Hall on 7 October.

BCL is the student wing of ruling Bangladesh Awami League.
