2 girls ‘gang-raped’ in Dhaka, Shariatpur

A teenage girl has reportedly been gang-raped in Dhaka while a physically challenged minor girl raped in Shariatpur, reports UNB.

Besides, a serial rapist and an adolescent boy for his alleged rape attempt on a minor girl were arrested in Jashore.

In Dhaka, a 16-year-old girl was raped by miscreants at Taiyabpur Mollapara in Ashulia on Monday night.

Police arrested six suspects -- Robin alias Sunny, 22, son of Sohel Mia of Matlab upazila in Chandpur district, Azim Uddin Mollah, 50, son of late Hafiz Uddin of Ashulia, Akbar Hossain, 23, son of Rafiqul Islam, Shanta, 21, son of Shukkur Ali, Nahid, 21, son of Jahangir Gazi, and Imran, 20, son of Rahim Mia of Kamrangirchar in the capital. 


Mohammad Ziaul Islam, inspector (operation) of Ashulia Police Station, said the victim got acquainted with to Robin through Facebook and she came to Taiyabpur in Ashulia from Khulna as Robin promised to give her a job.

She also rented a house there and used to live in the area for few days.

On Monday night, Robin along with his four associates violated the girl in turns.

The victim was sent to the one-stop crisis centre of Dhaka Medical College Hospital.

In Shariatpur, police arrested a man for allegedly violating a physically challenged girl at Dhanoi village in Damudya upazila on Monday night.

The arrestee was identified as Mamun Goldar, 35m of Syed Bosta village in the upazila.

Mehedi Hasan, officer-in-charge of Damudya Police Station, said Mamun took the girl, a Class-II student of a local primary school, to a beetle-nut field on her way home from school around 12:30pm and violated her.

When the girl returned home, she revealed the matter to her parents and the victim's mother filed a case with Damudya Police Station.

After getting complaint, police arrested Mamun at the night.

In Jashore, police arrested Ashraful Mollah, 37, son of Akbar Mollah of Boramara village in Sadar upazila of Narail district, from Shankarpur in the district town on Tuesday for reportedly violating 20 girls,.

Touhidul Islam, additional superintendent of the Special Branch of Jashore police, said police arrested Ashraful from the house owned by one Raushan Ali around 2:30pm.

Police also recovered four fake identity cards of Bangladesh Army, three fake NID cards, 13 SIM cards and two mobile phone sets from his possession.

Ashraful used to rape girls tactfully and took video footage of the act.

He was wanted in different cases filed with Jahsore, Narail and Rajshahi police stations.

In Sharsha upazila of the district, police arrested an adolescent boy on Monday for his reported rape attempt on a girl.

Police and family members of the girl said the boy took the girl, a second grader, to his house tactfully and tried to violate her there.

The mother of the girl went to the boy's house in search of her daughter and rescued the girl.

Ataur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Sharsha Police Station, said police detained the boy as the girl's mother filed a case in this regard.
