Bhola clash: Another suspect remanded

A Bhola court on Thursday remanded one more suspect for a day in a case filed over the recent clash between police and demonstrating locals in Borhanuddin upazila that claimed four lives and injured 200 others, reports UNB.

The accused is Al Amin, 25, son of late Hossain of Paxmia union in the upazila.

Enamul Haque, officer-in-charge of Borhanuddin police station, said they had arrested Al Amin on Wednesday night after identifying him scrutinising video clips of the clash.

Inspector of court police Rathindranath Biswas said additional chief judicial magistrate Sharif Md Sanaul Haque put him on remand when Al Amin was produced before the court in the morning.

Police have so far arrested three people, including Al Amin, in the case filed over the incident.

Four people were killed and more than 200 others injured on 20 October in the clash between police and demonstrating locals who were demanding punishment of a youth in Borhanuddin upazila for allegedly hurting religious sentiments on Facebook.

Police filed a case in this regard accusing 5,000 unknown people.
