Relatives of 16 people sentenced to death in Nusrat Jahan Rafi murder case and local people formed a human chain at Olama Bazar street, Feni on Sunday and demanded their release, reports news agency UNB.

The relatives claimed that CCTV footage of the incident, which was confiscated by Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) on 10 April, was not presented at court during the trial when the lawyers of the accused applied for its viewing.

According to them, PBI framed the innocent people by not producing the CCTV footage.

Claiming that they did not get a fair trial, the relatives want the intervention of prime minister Sheikh Hasina for a proper trial in the High Court.

Many villagers carrying banners and festoons participated in the human chain.

Police from Sonagazi Model police station took position at various locations of the municipality and conducted patrols to maintain law and order.

On 24 October, district women and children repression prevention tribunal sentenced 16 people to death in the much-talked-about Nusrat murder case.
