The rescue operation of Fire Service to find a schoolboy who remained missing since a three-storey building collapsed in Babubail area of the city, was still underway on Monday, reports UNB.

The missing boy was identified as Wazid, son of Md Rubel of Babubail area.

Earlier on Sunday, body of Wazid's cousin Shoeb, 12, was retrieved while seven others were injured after the building collapse.

Narayanganj Fire Service and Civil Defence Assistant Director Md Abdullah Al Arefin said five units of fire-fighters along with divers were conducting the search operation since last night to find the child.

Wazid's father said that Shoeb and Wazid went to the ground floor of the building for learning Arabic on Sunday afternoon when the building collapsed. "I'm praying for my son's safe return," he added.

Deputy Commissioner Md Jashim Uddin said a five-member committee has been formed to investigate the matter. The search operation will continue until everyone is rescued, he added.

Meanwhile, on Sunday evening the rescue operation was suspended which later resumed at 11 pm when Wazid's parents claimed that their son was also trapped in the building.

The building was constructed two years ago on a canal reportedly without following the building code, said locals.
