Schoolboy Iftekhar Ahmed Wazid who got trapped inside after a three-storey building collapsed in Baburail area of Narayanganj on Sunday was found dead on Tuesday afternoon, reports UNB.

Firefighters retrieved the body of Wazid, son of Mohammad Rubel, from the debris around 2pm, 46 hours after the building came crashing down, said Narayanganj Fire Service and Civil Defence assistant director Md Abdullah Al Arefin.

Later, the body was handed over to the family in the presence of Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Nahida Barik.

With this, the death toll from the incident has risen to two.

On Sunday, 12-year-old boy Shoeb, also Wazed's cousin, was killed and seven people were injured when the three-storey building collapsed around 4:15pm.

The building was constructed two years ago on a canal reportedly without following the building code, said locals.

A five-member committee was formed to investigate the matter.
