Dinajpur youth gets life term for rape

A tribunal on Wednesday sentenced a young man to life term imprisonment as he raped a girl of South Baluadanga area of Dinajpur, reports UNB.

The convict was identified as Sohag Reza, 23, son of Mohsin Ali of the area.

Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal judge Sharif Uddin Ahmed handed down the verdict.

According to the case statement, Reza raped the girl on many occasions from 21September, 2010 to 14 June, 2011 promising to marry her.

The victim filed a case with Kotwali police station under the Prevention of Women and Children Repression Act when Reza refused to marry her.

After examining the records and evidence, the Judge handed down the verdict.
