Dhanmondi double murder: Maid confesses to her involvement

Surovi Akhter Nahida, the key suspect in the murder of a woman and her domestic help in the city’s Dhanmondi area, confessed to her involvement in the murders before a court in Dhaka on Thursday, reports UNB.

Dhaka metropolitan magistrate court judge Sorafuzzaman Ansari recorded her confessional statement and then sent her to jail.

Earlier on Tuesday, Nahida and four others - security guard Mohammad Nuruzzaman, cleaner GausalAzam Prince, Atiqul Haque Bachchu, bodyguard of the son-in-law of victim Afroza Begum, and electrician Belayet Hossain were put on five-day remand in the case.

The bodies of Afroza Begum, 65, and her domestic help Bithi, 19 were recovered from a flat on the third floor of house No 21 on road 28 on 1 November.

The case filed in this connection was transferred to the Detective Branch (DB) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) on Monday for investigation.

Police in a drive arrested Nahida from the city’s Agargaon area on Monday.
