PM Hasina pays homage to JSD leader Moin Uddin Khan Badal

Prime minister Sheikh Hasina paid rich tributes to valiant freedom fighter and parliament member Moin Uddin Khan Badal by placing a wreath on his coffin at South Plaza of Jatiya Sangsad (JS) Bhaban in the capital on Saturday morning.

After placing the wreath, the prime minister stood in solemn silence for some time as a mark of profound respect to the memory of Badal, also a leader of a faction of Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (JSD).

Flanked by senior leaders and parliament members of the party, Sheikh Hasina, also the Awami League president, laid another wreath on the coffin on behalf of the party.

On behalf of president M Abdul Hamid, his military secretary placed a wreath on the coffin of Badal.

Speaker Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury and deputy speaker advocate Fazle Rabbi Mia also paid homage to Badal by laying wreaths, while a wreath was placed on behalf of leader of the opposition in parliament Begum Raushan Ershad.

Leaders of the 14-party alliance, JSD, Workers Party also placed wreaths on the coffin of Badal.

Earlier, the first namaz-e-janaza of Badal was held at the South Plaza of the JS.

A huge number of people including ministers, chief whip, whips, lawmakers, senior leaders of different political parties and officials and employees of the JS attended the janaza.

A smartly turned out contingent of police gave the state salute, while bugle played the last post on the occasion.

Later, a munajat seeking eternal peace of the departed soul was offered. The Pesh Imam of the Jatiya Sangsad Mosque conducted the munajat.

Badal, the executive president of a faction of Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (JSD), passed away at a hospital in Bengaluru in India on Thursday morning at the age of 67.

He was elected lawmaker thrice from Chattogram-8 constituency.
