Shariatpur road accident kills 3

Three people were killed and 19 injured as a bus plunges into a ditch in Shariatpur.

The accident took place on Tuesday morning on Shariatpur-Damudya road in Khejurtola of Damudya upazila.

The deceased were identified as Kamruzzaman Munshi, 45, from village Sidda, Julhas Mollah, 28, from village Kulkuri and Yakub Pike, 70, from village Dakkhin Damudya of the upazila.

A bus with around 45 passengers headed to Majhirghat of Jajira lost its control while giving space to an auto rickshaw and fell into a ditch leaving two dead on the spot, according to the locals.
The third victim died while undergoing treatment at Damudya Upazila Health Complex. The injured passengers are being treated at various hosptials at Damudya and Shariatpur, according to the locals.

Bodies of the victims have been handed over to the families said Quazi Abu Taher, deputy commissioner.

Legal action will be taken against the driver, he said.
