In the last 24 hours until Tuesday morning, 157 new dengue patients were admitted to different hospitals across the country, reports news agency UNB.

Fifty-eight of them were hospitalised in Dhaka, the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) said in a regular update.

Bangladesh was hit by a massive outbreak of the mosquito-borne disease this year. Large number of patients overwhelmed the country’s medical services.

Since January, more than 100,000 people were hospitalised with dengue. Of them, 97,122 made full recovery, the UNB report added.

Currently, 713 patients, including 329 in the capital, are undergoing treatment at different hospitals.

The Institute of Epidemiology, Disease Control and Research (IEDCR) has received 251 reports of dengue-related deaths. It has reviewed 179 of them and confirmed 112 deaths.
