Rajib Prasad, a 35-year-old fertiliser trader in Bogura, mislaid Tk 2 million (Tk 20 lac) when he left the money in a rickshaw on the way to the bus stop at Shatmatha on Friday. But rickshaw puller Lal Miah (55) returned the money to Prasad later in the day.

Prasad said he had a fertiliser business in the Ranbagha market of Nandigram and lived in Jaleswaritala of Bogura town. At 7:15 Friday morning he took a rickshaw to Shatmatha to catch a bus to Rajshahi. He had three bags with him, but mistakenly left the bag with Tk 2 million in the rickshaw. He realised his mistake after 10 minutes and after looking for the rickshaw, rushed to the police Bogura sadar station.

The officer-in-charge (OC), SM Badiuzzman said, they managed to spot the rickshaw puller in the CCTC footage of the Shatmatha area and then managed to locate Lal Miah with the help of the other rickshaw pullers near the Bogura station.

Lal Miah told the police that he had also been searching for the owner of the missing bag which he had kept carefully at home. He brought the bag and handed it over to Rajib Prasad at the police station, with the entire amount of money intact.

Rajib Prasad told Prothom Alo that he got the entire amount back and was happy that the rickshaw puller was so honest. As a reward, he gave Lal Miah Tk 50,000 to buy a rickshaw of his own.
