‘Gas pipeline blast’, wall collapse kill 7

Seven people including two women have been killed in a wall collapse following what has primarily been assessed as a gas pipeline explosion along Brickfield Road in Patharghata, Chattogram on Sunday morning.

At least seven other people have sustained injuries in the incident that occurred around 9:00am.

Inspector of police at Chittagong Medical College Hospital police outpost, Zahirul Islam, has confirmed this.

Seven people were brought to the hospital in critical condition. Physicians declared them dead, he said.

Seven other wounded people are under treatment at the hospital, but they are in a critical condition too, he added.

Fire services and police were carrying out rescue operation at the spot until filing of this report.
