Female patient ‘commits suicide’ at Rajshahi hospital

A female patient undergoing treatment at Rajshahi Medical College Hospital (RMCH) reportedly committed suicide by jumping off the hospital building early Wednesday, reports UNB.

The deceased was identified as Jesmine Ara, 27, of Bagmara upazila. She had been suffering from jaundice.

Shahadat Hossain, officer-in-charge of Rajpara police station, said Jesmine was hospitalised on 13 November and has been undergoing treatment at ward number 38.

She went outside the ward around 2:00am and jumped off the second floor. She died on the spot.

Her family members claimed she was mentally challenged.

The body has been kept at the hospital morgue.
