Locals in Satkhira caught an Awami League leader’s son allegedly when he was snatching a cellular phone, reports UNB.

Abrar Jahin, son of Josna Ara, general secretary of the district Mohila Awami League and councilor of Satkhira municipality, was reportedly fleeing after snatching a mobile phone at Dohakula intersection of sadar upazila on Tuesday night.

The owner of the phone, Sagor Mistry of Boiarbatan, Satkhira was watching a film on his phone near Dohakula when Jahin snatched the phone, UNB quoted sub-inspector Hasanuzzaman, in-charge Brommorajpur police outpost, as saying.

Jahin was riding a motorbike during the act, he said to UNB adding that the locals rushed to the spot following Sagor's scream and stopped the vehicle.

They then handed Jahin over to police, Hasanuzzaman said.

Mostafizur Rahman, OC of Satkhira sadar police station, said a case was lodged against Abrar Jahin.

Jahin was reportedly produced before a Satkhira court on Wednesday.
