A total 46 students were held from a single centre for giving proxy at the Ebtedayee examination in Baliadangi upazila on Wednesday and Thursday.

They were, however, released on bond given by their parents.

Centre secretary and assistant head teacher of Kalmegh Government Primary School said first he suspected 46 examinees as proxy givers and later identified them as fake examinees through scrutiny.

Of them, 10 are from Lalapur Ebtedayee Madrasah, eight from Bolidara Ebtedayee Madrasa, 11 from Raipur Sajad Ali Ebtedayee Madrasa, six from Araji Sorlia Ebtedayee Madrasa and 11 from Lalapur Safiz Uddin Madrasa.

Khairul Alam Sumon, upazila nirbahi officer, said they later released the proxy examinees on bond.

Mofazzel Hossain Mondol, upazila education officer, said madrasa superintendents concerned might have been involved in such an evil practice.

The Primary Education Completion (PEC) and Ebtedayee examinations began across the country on 18 November.

The examinations are being held at 7,470 centres across the country.
