An innovator from Sylhet, Abdul Hai Azad, has invented more than 40 machines, three this year, to make life easier for people.

He supplies the machines to the local market and these are used by numerous people in Sylhet and other districts, easing their daily lives.

He has been designing and building new machines to keep pace with the digital era. The researcher has invented three new machines lately.

One of them is a cheap electricity-run machine capable of removing corn from the cob. It can thresh 30 kilogrammes of cobs per hour. The second one is a dustbin that prevents odour from spreading all over and can be used for shifting garbage.

The third machine can separate dust from the fibrous husk of coconuts. It runs on electricity and is very reasonable as well. The machine is capable of threshing 40 kg of husks per hour.

The machines can be of great use to the farmers, traders and the general people, said Abdul Hai Azad.

“I’ve worked very hard to design and make the machines. It gives me great pleasure when I see my machines bringing smiles to the people. I feel honoured for being able to participate in the development of the country,” he said.

In 2005, Abdul Hai Azad received the Jatiya Krishi Padak as recognition of his research. Ten years later, he received an award from the a2i project of prime minister’s office and in 2017, he got the Bangabandhu National Agriculture Padak.

He received the two awards from PM Sheikh Hasina.

Another one of his machines, intended for collecting waste and mud from drains, is currently being tested.

“I urge the people to use the machines I invented and thus inspire me to work harder to come up with more inventions,” he said.
