Primary teacher ‘beaten to death’ over land feud

Head teacher of a primary school was reportedly beaten to death over land dispute in Atghoria upazila, Pabna on Saturday morning, reports UNB.

The deceased was identified as Ashraf Ali, 45, of Maheshpur village in the upazila.

He was the head teacher of Fulbaria Primary School and was serving as the general secretary of the upazila primary teachers’ council.

Hossain, son of the deceased, said his father had an altercation with the neighbours over a piece of land in the morning.

“At one stage, Afzal (one of the neighbours) beat my father indiscriminately with a stick, leaving him dead on the spot,” he said.

Rakibul Islam, officer-in-charge of Atghoria police station, said a police team had been sent to the spot while the details will be known after investigation.

The body was sent to a hospital morgue for autopsy, the OC added.
