Teacher held for ‘raping’ schoolgirl

Police have arrested a teacher in Sitakunda upazila of Chattogram on allegation of raping a schoolgirl, reports UNB.

The arrested is Mohammad Tareque, of Muradpur union in the upazila and a teacher of Sitakunda Girls’ High School.

The arrest was made on Saturday night after the victim filed a case in the evening, said police.

According to the case statement, Tareque took the girl to a residential hotel in Chattogram in July and raped her with a false promise of marriage.

However, he refused to marry her when she put pressure on her.

Officer-in-charge (operations) of Sitakunda Model police station Abdul Kalam said they arrested the schoolteacher from Muradpur soon after the filing of the case.
