5-year-old girl raped in Satkhira

A five-year-old girl was allegedly raped by a man at Kashempur area of Satkhira district town on Saturday evening, reports UNB.

Police arrested the alleged man, Sharifuzzaman, 22, son of certain Sheikh Ohiduzzaman of Rajnagar village in Kalaroa upazila and a student of Satkhira polytechnic institute.

Officer-in-charge of Sadar Police Station Mostafizur Rahman said Sharifuzzaman took the girl to his room while she was playing and raped her.

The family later lodged a complaint with the police station as the girl told her mother about incident, he added.

The OC said they arrested the alleged rapist at midnight.

The girl was also sent to Sadar Hospital, added.
