The United States has renewed its commitment to continue support for Bangladesh in fight against terrorism following the verdict over brazen Holey Artisan cafe attack three years ago.

“We remain committed to continuing to support Bangladesh in its fight against terrorism, especially in our shared efforts to improve rule of law,” says a press statement by embassy of the United States in Dhaka on Wednesday.

The press communique also said the United States is honored to have assisted the Government of Bangladesh throughout the investigation of the attack.

Bangladesh has sentenced seven militants to death for their roles in the attack at the upscale Holey Artisan cafe in the Gulshan area of the capital Dhaka in July 2016. This was the deadliest terror attack on Bangladesh’s soil.

The statement also reads that today’s verdict gives some closure to the families of those who suffered from the brutal murders committed that day. The trial represents a landmark case for Bangladesh.

On this solemn occasion, the United States renews its deepest condolences to the loved ones of the civilians slain and Bangladeshi law enforcement officials who were killed or injured responding to this contemptible terrorist attack.
