Jatiya Party presidium member and Salma Islam, MP (reserved seat) has been made the party's Dhaka district unit president, reports UNB.
Party chairman GM Quader came up with the announcement at the council of the party's unit on Saturday.
He asked Salma to constitute a full-fledged committee of the unit by the next 10 days.
Speaking at the programme, GM Quader said people want to see Jatiya Party as an alternative force. "Jatiya Party is now the most accepted party among the country's three major political parties."
He also said people expect that Jatiya party will be strengthened further to take the country forward by returning to power.
Jatiya Party secretary general Moshiur Rahman Ranga, presidium members Ziauddin Ahmed Bablu, Syed Abu Hossain Babla and SM Faisal Chisti were, among others, present at the programme.
