Girl rescued from Dhaka after 9 days of 'abduction'

Police rescued a teenage girl from Savar upazila of Dhaka on Saturday, nine days after she was abducted from her residence in Taraganj upazila of Rangpur, reports UNB.

The alleged abductor, Santosh Kumar Roy, 29, son of Prashonno Kumar Roy of Gangachhara upazila, was arrested from Rangpur.

Zinnat Ali, officer-in-charge of Taraganj Police Station, said Santosh abducted the 14-year-old girl from her residence at Balapara village of the upazila as she turned down his marriage proposal on 21 November.

Two days later, victim’s mother Purnima Rani filed a general diary with the police station in this regard.


Police identified the location through tracking mobile phone and rescued the girl from the residence of one Sujon Sarker of Savar’s Hemayetpur area.
